AZ Dept. of Health Services Visits UA SRP

May 10, 2012

On May 15, 2012, a group from the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) travelled from Phoenix to visit the University of Arizona Superfund Research Program (UA SRP) to discuss potential ADHS-UA SRP collaborations. The UA SRP provided overviews of current environmental and biomedical projects, as well as details on various field projects and outreach efforts centered in Dewey-Humboldt, AZ, near the Iron King Mine Humboldt Smelter Superfund Site, including the new pilot exposure study “Metals Exposure Study in Homes”. Following the discussions and lunch, ADHS was given a tour of our Hazard Identification Core facility, the Arizona Laboratory for Emerging Contaminants. Several areas of mutual interest were identified and will be pursued.
