CEI National Technical Assistance Workshop Conference Call

Jan. 19, 2011

On January 19, 2011, Program Coordinator, Denise Moreno Ramirez, was invited to participate in a US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) Community Engagement Initiative National Technical Assistance Workshop conference call.  The purpose of the call was to inform interested US EPA representatives, from regional and headquarter offices, about the research translation and community engagement work that is being accomplished by the University of Arizona Superfund Research Program (UA SRP).

Ms. Suzanne Wells, who is Chief of the Superfund Community Involvement and Program Initiatives Branch, moderated the session.  Moreno Ramirez described the UA SRP’s role in providing technical assistance to communities and other stakeholders that they interact with at various contaminated sites.  In addition, she discussed suggestions to facilitate how US EPA provides technical assistance to and collaborates with university programs such as SRP.  Participants had the opportunity to ask questions during the call or can contact Moreno Ramirez directly in order to get more information about UA SRP projects and methodologies used in community involvement activities.
