Former UA SBRP Director Dean E. Carter Receives Society of Toxicology’s Metals Specialty Career Achievement Award

Former UA SBRP Director, Dean E. Carter, was the recipient of the 2008 Society of Toxicology’s Metals Specialty Career Achievement Award at this year’s annual meeting in Seattle. Dr. Carter received this award in recognition of his outstanding achievements as a researcher, mentor and leader in the field of metals toxicology.

Throughout his career, Dean has focused on metals as toxicants with a special emphasis on arsenic over the past 20 years. In addition to his ongoing metal toxicology research, Dean has created a cadre of metal toxicology researchers at the UA and was a major influence in the education, training and mentorship of young scientists. Beyond the classroom and laboratory, Dean provided leadership and service to the field and greatly influenced regulatory and risk assessment decisions related to metal toxicology.
