Hazel Cox Wins First Place in Poster Competition

Nov. 1, 2010

Hazel Cox, Superfund Research Program Training Core student, recently received first place in the Water Sustainability Program (WSP) Student Poster Competition at the November 2010 WSP Water Forum.  Her poster titled, “Transport of TiO2 Nanoparticles in Porous Media,” reflects her research with colleague Gwynn R. Johnson of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Portland State University and mentor Dr. Mark L. Brusseau of the Department of Soil, Water and Environmental Science at the University of Arizona.  Hazel has been participating in this research since January of 2008, which focuses on column scale experiments attempting to determine what happens to the nano sized contaminants once they get into the soil and groundwater.  When she completes her program she would like to continue working in contaminant transport and remediation of soil/groundwater in southern Arizona.

Please join the UA Superfund Research Program in congratulating Hazel on her recent award!
