Moreno Ramírez appointed to Environmental Quality Advisory Council

Dec. 3, 2013

Denise Moreno Ramírez, Community Engagement Coordinator for the University of Arizona Superfund Research Program (UA SRP), was recently selected to serve on the Pima County Environmental Quality Advisory Council (EQAC). She will serve as one of ten members whose purpose is to “advise and consult with the Board of Supervisors, Department of Environmental Quality Staff, and the Department of Environmental Quality Director in administering environmental quality matters.”

Following nomination by governmental, professional, or community organizations representative of a range of fields related to environmental protection, members were selected and appointed by the Pima County Board of Supervisors based on their demonstrated expertise. Moreno Ramírez fills the Environmental/Conservation seat in the EQAC, and will serve a term of three years. She joins UA SRP investigator Dr. Eric Betterton, who fills the Environmental Planning seat.

“I hope that my community engagement experience with environmental justice communities can add to the issues the Board addresses,” says Moreno Ramírez.

Please join the UA SRP in thanking Denise for this service to our community!
