New Community Information Sheet: Phytoremediation

Sept. 20, 2012

The University of Arizona (UA SRP) has published a new issue in our popular series of community information sheets! The tri-fold pamphlet is focused on phytoremediation, or the use of plants to treat environmental pollution. It discusses the basic concepts and different types of phytoremediation, with a focus on the common strategies of phytoextraction and phytostabilization, two remedies of importance in the southwest. As always, the information sheet provides the reader with references for additional information.

The “What is Phytoremediation?” information sheet was created by UA SRP pre-doctoral trainee Corin Hammond and Research Translation Coordinator Sarah Wilkinson. Dr. Rufus Chaney (USDA) and UA SRP Director Dr. Raina Maier provided expertise to review and finalize the document. It was printed with Arizona Lithographers, a local printing business that uses sustainable practices.

This information sheet, as all the others in the series, is freely available in hard copy format from the UA SRP, or can be viewed as a PDF online.
