The Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Program is part of the Women's Studies Department and the Southwest Institute for Research on Women at the University of Arizona. Each year WISE sponsors a number of Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) conferences, which provide middle school and high school students with an opportunity to hear about exciting advances and opportunities in science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) and medicine!

UA SRP Research Translation Director Dr. Monica Ramirez-Andreotta was invited to be the Keynote speaker at an Expanding your Horizons event held at Amphi Middle School in Tucson, AZ on January 28, 2017. Young women in the 5th through 8th grades listened and interacted with Ramirez-Andreotta who presented “Dr. Ramirez, Tia Meme, Yola, and La Moni: Where I am and How I Got Here”. In this presentation, she described her personal, academic, and professional experiences. “It was an honor to be part of the WISE EYH conference and support an initiative like this that serves women in science” said Ramirez-Andreotta after her visit.
