SBRP - SWEHSC 2004 Annual Science Fair

Sept. 29, 2004

The University of Arizona’s Superfund Basic Research Program (SBRP) and Southwest Environmental Health Sciences Center (SWEHSC) held their 8th Annual Science Fair on September 29th at the University Marriott in Tucson, Arizona. Attendees of the Science Fair enjoyed a talk delivered by guest speaker Dr. Vicki Chandler entitled: Bio5 Institute: Mission, Goals, and Activities. Science Fair participants also enjoyed a poster session displaying the current research results of each program. The Annual Science Fair was a great opportunity for researchers to interact and share their work in an interdisciplinary setting.

Dr. Chandler’s presentation, Bio5 Institute: Mission, Goals, and Activities, described the new Bio5 Institute at the University of Arizona. This is the first biotechnology-bioresearch institute at the University of Arizona and will be housed in the new Thomas Keating Bioresearch Building. During her presentation, Dr. Chandler stressed that the Bio5 Institute is greater than the new building and will integrate biomedical and biotechnology research from the 5 participating Colleges (Pharmacy, Medicine, Engineering, Agriculture, and Science) throughout the health sciences and main campus, as well as across the State. Visit http://bio5.org/ for more information about the Bio5 Institute.
