UA SRP Investigator, Raina Maier presents research at 1st Annual Arizona State Mine Inspector Fall Mine Mixer and Conference
Raina Maier presented UA Superfund research to the Arizona State Mine Inspector Fall Mine Conference on October 1, 2009. Her talk was entitled, “Characterization and Reclamation of Mine Tailings in the Desert Southwest” and covered research from UA SRP PI, Eric Betterton’s group on characterization of wind blown dust from mine tailings sites as well as research from Dr. Maier’s group on revegetation of mine tailings. Approximately 200 professionals attended the conference from the hard rock and aggregate mining industry in Arizona.
The Arizona State Mine Inspector’s mission is to “enforce state mining laws, which protect mine employees, residents, and the Arizona environment”.
