UA SRP Trainee is Top Individual Female Finisher in El Tour de Tucson!

Nov. 17, 2012

On November 17, 2012, University of Arizona Superfund Research Program (UA SRP) graduate trainee Linnea Herbertson took the top place among individual women in the 2012 El Tour de Tucson cycling race. She completed the 111-mile main event with a time of 4:39:03, effectively cutting her time in half from her first race five years ago.

El Tour de Tucson is one of the largest road cycling events in the U.S., and includes several routes of varying lengths, from a 0.25 mile ‘fun ride’ to the 111-mile main event. It draws participants of all ages, from Tucson as well as outside of Arizona. Of her big win, Ms. Herbertson, a trainee in the laboratory of UA SRP Director Dr. Raina Maier, keeps reiterating, “I am still in shock, I didn’t expect to win!”

So here you have it, proof that graduate students can have a life outside of the lab! Congratulations, Linnea!
