UA SRP Welcomes Sarah T. Wilkinson

March 3, 2011

In February 2011, Sarah T. Wilkinson officially started her new position as Research Translation Core Coordinator of The University of Arizona (UA) Superfund Research Program (SRP).  She holds a BA in Biology from the University of Virginia and a PhD in Cancer Biology with a minor in Pharmacology and Toxicology from UA.  Her postdoctoral work was completed at the UA Department of Pathology and focused on cancer, specifically lymphoma research.
The field of research translation has always fascinated Wilkinson who believes there is a great need to connect academic investigations to real-world needs.  She is particularly interested in how science is communicated to diverse stakeholders and especially to those with no formal training in science and those trained in different scientific fields.  In her new position, she will be establishing relationships with government officials as well as other stakeholders, develop innovative communication tools for SRP research, and collaborate closely with the UA SRP Community Engagement Core as well as Administrative Core.

Wilkinson is looking forward to being part of the UA SRP team.  Furthermore, she is excited to extend her science knowledge base to areas beyond her training in the biomedical sciences including environmental and engineering sciences and public health.

Please join UA SRP in welcoming Sarah!  You can contact her at wilkinso@pharmacy.arizona.edu or (520) 307-3452
