Voices Unheard: Arizona’s Environmental History Project Has a New Website!

The goal of the Voices Unheard Project is to preserve the life stories of individuals who work and live near Superfund sites by using oral history. The idea of initiating an oral history project originated from the 20th Anniversary Planning Committee for the Tucson International Airport Area Unified Community Advisory Board (community need). The project currently partners with two Superfund communities that include the Tucson International Airport Area (Tucson, Arizona) and the Iron King Mine and Humboldt Smelter (Dewey-Humboldt, Arizona) sites. UA SRP Trainee, Denise Moreno Ramírez, has developed the Voices Unheard project as part of her dissertation research and is leading it in both communities.
The Voices Unheard project has recently launched a dedicated website to better communicate with the public (https://voicesunheard.sites.arizona.edu/). Participants and others can use the website to see the progress that has made in each community. The website also highlights local events that Voices Unheard will be participating in as well as research communication materials that have been designed for the project.
