Trainee Update: Susan Perez

Susan Perez is a doctoral student studying glycolipids and aqueous mining in the Department of Environmental Science, under the mentorship of Dr. Raina Maier and Dr. David Hogan, and part of the University of Arizona Superfund Research Center (UA SRC) Training Core.
In 2023, she won second place in the oral talks division at the University of Arizona ENVision Conference. Susan received the David A. Baker Newmont Mineral Development and Sustainability Fellowship for academic year 2023-24 and was awarded a scholarship from the Women in Mining - Arizona Chapter.
She presented her research in a talk at the NIEHS Superfund Research Program Annual Meeting in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in December 2023 and will also present at the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration Annual meeting in Phoenix, Arizona, in February 2024.
