Dr. Mark Brusseau Presents DNAPL Workshop Summary at EPA Groundwater Forum (GWF) Meeting
May 17, 2005
UA SBRP investigator Dr. Mark Brusseau presented a summary of a SBRP sponsored DNAPL Source Zone Workshop at an EPA Groundwater Forum (GWF) meeting held in Phoenix, Arizona, May 24, 2005. Included in the presentation was a discussion of the factors that influence the mass flux of contaminants in groundwater systems and how to predict mass flux reduction. The presentation included the results of an intermediate-scale (flow cell) study designed to examine NAPL dissolution from heterogeneous systems with permeability variability, non-uniform NAPL distribution and multiple mass-transfer processes. A pore-scale study examining NAPL dissolution was also highlighted.
