SBRP Investigators Contribute to the 2004 Arizona Hydrological Society (AHS) Annual Symposium

The Arizona Hydrological Society (AHS) held their 2004 Annual Symposium September 15-17 at the Radisson Hotel City Center, Tucson. This year's symposium was entitled: "The Value of Water" and included the participation of many SBRP investigators. Below is a list of the contributions of University of Arizona SBRP researchers.

Dr. Robert Arnold, Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, presented a talk entitled: Total Estrogenic Activity and Nonylphenol Concentration at the Roger Road Wastewater Treatment Plant - Fates During Effluent Polishing and Implications for Water Reuse.

Dr. Mark Brusseau, Department of Soil, Water, and Environmental Science, moderated a session entitled: Fate of Organic Wastewater Compounds.

Justin Marble, student in the Department of Hydrology and Water Resources, presented a talk entitled: In Situ Oxidation of TCE NAPL in Heterogeneous porous Media: 2-D Flow Cell Experiments.

Colleen McColl, the University of Arizona SBRP Research Translation Specialist, presented two posters at the symposium. The first poster was entitled: The University of Arizona Superfund Basic Research Program (SBRP): An Interdisciplinary Approach to Environmental Research and Education. The second poster Ms. McColl presented was entitled: Characterizing Mass Transfer of a Complex Non-aqueous Phase Liquid.

Dr. Eduardo Saez, Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, presented a talk entitled: Reductive Destruction of Chlorinated Hydrocarbons in Modified Fuel Cells.

Gregory Schnaar, Training Core student in the Department of Soil, Water, and Environmental Science, presented a talk entitled: The Impact of Non-ideal Sorption on Low-concentration Tailing Behavior for Chlorinated Solvents in Aquifer Material.
