University of Arizona Superfund Research Center Director Participates in the SRP Leaders Livestream
The SRP Leaders Livestream is hosted by the MIT Superfund Research Center and brings together the Superfund Research Program community to discuss environmental health research.
Dr. Raina Maier recently presented a talk entitled: “The Mine Tailings Microbiome – Friend or Foe of Revegetation?”. She discussed her group’s research efforts related to the revegetation of mine wastes and the importance of the revegetation process in preventing exposures to metal(loids) and particulates. She also described how the University of Arizona Center for Environmentally Sustainable Mining was founded as a vehicle for the translation of Superfund Center research to the mining industry. The talk was well attended by Superfund-affiliated researchers with a lively discussion afterwards.
