SRC Director Dr. Xinxin Ding gave a presentation on the SRP and UA SRC research projects to a group of UA undergraduate students in a new Environmental Toxicology course (PCOL 420) in January of this year. The new course teaches students how toxicants produce adverse effects by understanding their environmental fates and biological activities. Toxicity testing procedures and exposure assessments are used to help evaluate the potential for harm to humans and other species1. Dr. Ding’s presentation gave an overview of the work done at the UA Superfund Research Center, including the center’s goals, and specifically focused on the research done in Projects 1 and 2. The center utilizes many of the same research procedures and assessments students learn in the new course offered by the College of Pharmacy.
