Updates on The Gardenroots Project

Through RT Director Dr. Mónica Ramírez-Andreotta's NIEHS Report Back R01 grant and NIGMS Science Education Partnership Award, the Cottonwood Arizona community engaged in a series of Gardenroots activities throughout 2025. This started with community training sessions in June 2025 where participants learned how to collect environmental samples and received free sampling materials. This was followed by sample drop-off events in July at the Cottonwood Recreation Center, for which UA personnel were on hand to collect samples and assist participants. Finally, a data report-back event was held in March 2026, inviting the Cottonwood participants and their families to explore their environmental monitoring results together, with food and refreshments provided.
