UA SBRP and Binational Center Students Place 1st and 3rd in Water Sustainability Program Student Poster Competition at the UA Water Forum
Congratulations to co-presenters Jacqueline Shaw and Sahar Fathordoobadi, and to Monserrat Chairez-Llamas, 1st and 3rd place winners of the Water Sustainability Program Student Poster Competition at the UA Water Forum held Thursday, November 3, 2006.
The first prize award of $200 went to Chemical and Environmental Engineering graduate students Jacqueline Shaw and Sahar Fathordoobadi for their poster entitled: "Stabilization of Arsenic-bearing Solid Residuals in Polymeric Matrices". Both, Jacqueline and Sahar work in Dr. Wendell Ela’s laboratory.
Monserrat Chairez-Llamas received the third prize award of $50 for her poster entitled: "Autotropic Denitrification for the Treatment of Drinking Water". Ms. Chairez-Llamas is a U.S. TIES fellow from the Universidad Autonoma de San Luis Potosi, one of the U.S.-Mexico Binational Center for Environmental Sciences and Toxicology’s university partners in Mexico. Currently Monserrat works in Dr. James Field’s laboratory.
